A good reader

A good reader typically exhibits several key characteristics: 



1. Active Engagement: A good reader is actively engaged with the text, asking questions, making predictions, and drawing inferences as they read. 

2. Comprehension: They understand and interpret the text accurately, grasping the main ideas, themes, and supporting details. 

3. Critical Thinking: They analyze and evaluate the content, considering different perspectives and the credibility of the information presented. 

4. Vocabulary: A good reader has a strong vocabulary, which helps them understand and enjoy a wide range of texts.

 5. Fluency: They read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression, which aids in comprehension and enjoyment. 

6. Curiosity and Motivation: Good readers are curious and motivated, often reading a variety of genres and seeking out new knowledge and experiences through reading. 

7. Retention and Recall: They remember what they have read and can recall details, themes, and information later.

 8. Connecting Prior Knowledge: They connect new information to what they already know, which helps deepen their understanding and retention of the material. 

9. Flexibility in Reading Strategies: They use different reading strategies (such as skimming, scanning, or close reading) depending on the purpose and difficulty of the text. 

10. Metacognition: Good readers are aware of their own thought processes and strategies, and they can adjust their approach when they encounter difficulties.
